FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
If your question isn’t answered here, you’re welcome to reach out before booking.
Do you prescribe medication?
Yes. Medication recommendations are always individualized and based on a thoughtful discussion of the potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and your personal goals. We work together to determine whether medication is likely to be helpful as part of your overall treatment plan.
Will I have to take medication?
No. Medication is one of many treatment options available and is never required simply to become a patient. Some individuals benefit greatly from medication, while others achieve their goals through psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, supplementation or a combination of approaches.
Treatment decisions are made collaboratively, taking into account your preferences, medical history, and the best available scientific evidence.
Do you help people come off psychiatric medications?
Yes. Some individuals wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications because of side effects, life changes, or personal preferences. When clinically appropriate, I provide individualized deprescribing guidance designed to minimize withdrawal symptoms and support a gradual, thoughtful transition.
Any decision to taper medication is made collaboratively and with careful attention to your safety, symptom history, and long-term wellbeing.
Do you prescribe controlled substances (such as stimulants or benzodiazepines)?
If you are an established patient at the practice, the use of controlled substances is considered as part of your overall treatment plan. In some situations they are appropriate. When used, our practice has specific requirements that patients must meet to obtain their prescriptions safely, legally and effectively. Controlled substances are not filled for new patients within the first 4 visits. If an individual is working to taper off a controlled substance with support, this can be part of the comprehensive intake discussion.
I already have a therapist. Can I see Restore just for interventions and treatments?
Yes, we are happy to provide services in conjunction with other treating providers, whether they be other therapists, psychiatrists, primary care providers, or other specialists. Visits can be focused on medication, adjunct treatments, psychotherapy, deprescribing, or any available treatment option offered in the clinic that will serve you best.
Can I be treated for something other than mental health symptoms?
While the focus of the clinic is on treating mental health conditions, the interventions used, such as FSM, are quite effective for other issues in the body such as pain, inflammation and other physical ailments. Treatment of these issues is likely available through Restore for existing patients. Restore Mental Health does not operate as a primary care clinic. Please discuss your goals with the clinic during one of your treatment sessions.
Do you accept insurance? What are your fees?

- 60 minute appointment$200
- 30 minute appointment$100

Cancellation must be requested 48 business hours or more before an appointment so that services can be offered to others.
What if I have a mental health emergency?
Restore Mental Health does not provide emergency psychiatric services. If you are experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or others, are in immediate crisis, or require urgent assistance, call or text 988, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency department.
Where are you located? Do you offer telehealth appointments?
We offer in person visits at our location in Kailua, on Oʻahu. We also offer telehealth visits for individuals located anywhere in the state of Hawaii. Please note that individuals receiving certain prescription medications will be required to attend in-person appointments based on state regulations.
