Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)
How FSM works, what a session involves, and who tends to benefit from this gentle, evidence-informed therapy.
Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is a gentle therapy that delivers extremely low levels of electrical current—measured in microamps—to targeted tissues using specific frequency combinations. Unlike conventional electrical stimulation therapies such as TENS, FSM uses currents that are thousands of times lower and is designed to support the body’s natural healing processes.
FSM is utilized at diverse sites ranging from the Cleveland Clinic Children’s and Womack Army Medical Center to small private practices for the treatment of PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD and other psychological and neurological conditions. For patients receiving in-person psychotherapy, FSM may be incorporated as an adjunctive treatment when clinically appropriate to support nervous system regulation and overall wellbeing. Longer treatment sessions are also available for individuals seeking FSM as a primary therapy for selected mental health or physical health concerns.
While research on FSM continues to evolve, many patients find it to be a comfortable and helpful addition to a comprehensive treatment plan.
